Demon Hunter Chronicles

Consumption, Demon Hunter’s power

13.05…

Ice lay still on the warm concrete floor, the sun shining down from directly above them. The pool of blood slowly spreading across the floor, as the blood from both Sarge and Ice drips to the floor. Sarge quietly stands beside Ice’s still body “it’s time to end this and regain my glory” Sarge whispers to himself as he slowly raises one of his claws in to the air ready to strike. Sarge quickly thrusts his arm downwards towards Ice, all of a sudden Ice’s sword plunges deep in to Sarge’s leg. “AHHH!” Sarge screams as he pulls out the sword and throws in to the floor. Ice quickly rose to his feet grabbing his sword and dived to get out way. Sarge held his foot in pain as more blood continued to fall in to the pool.

“Didn’t you say you were going to kill me” Ice said as he put both his swords back in to their sheaths, after cleaning them of course. “How did you survive that!” Sarge yelled in agony, Ice threw off his tunic on to the floor revealing his chest full of tattoos. “Every one of my tattoos can be become water, this allows me to the create objects out of ice and form my basis of attack. However they also hold a defensive purpose, to the unwitting attacker attacking my body and tattoos seems to hold no difference. However a sword that seems to impale me through my tattoos merely passes through me without any damage to my body. You luckily hit a tattoo, you should be more careful and more precise with those horns of yours” Ice said as he stretch his arms out in opposite directions pointing to towards the sky.

“You bastard so you purposely played dead to trick me!” Sarge yelled as he turned his whole body to face Ice. “Well I needed time to set up my next attack. That’s also why I stabbed your leg although you didn’t leave me much choice about that” Ice replied as he continued to have his arms outstretched. “What, what plan. Hmm it doesn’t matter because you won’t have time to perform it!” Sarge gloated as he prepared to charge. “It has already begun, Ice!” All of sudden the pool of blood shot in the air around Sarge, “Prison!” Ice quickly wrapped his arms around him self. The blood came crashing down on Sarge. As it touched him the blood started to freeze before Sarge could move he was frozen solid.

“I’m sorry I have to do this” Ice said quietly as he withdrew his sword and prepared to attack, Sarge started to struggle furiously within the ice. As he did he could feel start to crack around his strength. Ice started to charge towards Sarge with his sword pointed towards. Sarge continued to struggle within the ice as Ice got closer and closer. Suddenly the ice cracked and Sarge seized his chance, he pushed with all his might and the ice shattered around him. Ice pushed forward and stabbed through the shattering ice. Before Ice realised a fist came flying out of the ice and sent him flying across the parking lot roof until he skidded to a stop. As Ice quickly absorbed the ice it remains disappeared in to the wind.

Ice stood back up and stared at Sarge, he was clutching his side; blood was seeping in through the gaps in between his fingers. “Ha, so much for the finishing move, hey Ice. It seems we have both made crucial mistake in this battle.” Sarge said as he let go of his side. Ice could see that he had clipped the side of him, it was nothing major but he was losing blood from the injury. “This time it is the deciding battle no matter who wins or loses.” Sarge said as he adopted a fight position. “Agreed” Ice replied as withdrew his other sword “Ice Maiden!” Ice yelled, almost instantly spikes of ice appeared through his tattoos protruding from Ice’s body. “Your physical attacks will not be effective now, you can not strike without damaging your own body.” Ice said as he started to charge. “I told you Ice it doesn’t who wins or loses. Even if it means a draw!” Sarge yelled as he ran towards Ice.

Ice slashed through the air to attempt to hit Sarge, but Sarge managed to continue weaving in between the slashes. Sarge made several swings destroying several spikes of ice without damaging him self but as soon as they were destroyed Ice replaced them. They continued to attack relentlessly until Ice managed to cut Sarge right arm slightly but Sarge managed to connect with Ice sending him skidding backwards. “Enough Ice! Your mine you BASTARD!” Sarge yelled as he began to walk towards Ice, he had now lost most of his strength. Ice clambered to his feet, he too was losing his energy. “Your right, this ends now!” Ice yelled, suddenly Ice screamed at the top of his lungs. The spikes across his body shot out in every direction Sarge braised himself as he saw the spikes heading towards him. Ice wasted no time and dashed forward towards Sarge.

Sarge smashed through the Ice shards with several round house kicks, as he turned around the last time he thrust his fist forward towards Ice and Ice thrust his sword towards Sarge. As the fist and sword past each other a flash a light filled the area. “ARGH!”

13.22

Blaze staggered through the streets as he staggered slightly from side to side, he grabbed a lamp post and leant against it and started to take deep breaths. He placed one of his hands on his neck and started to feel. It had completely healed and blood was no longer flowing from the wound. “What’s happening to me? Nanomachines in my body! That’s just a little bit far fetched” Blaze thought to himself but he soon realised that his strength was returning to him. “strange I shouldn’t be able to recuperate this quickly, maybe it is true. But if I am just a prototype then that means that Ice’s nanomachines are even more sophisticated, maybe it’s true maybe Ice himself is immortal. I have got to stop Cerebral then, If was to get his hands on immortality nobody would be able to stop him” Blaze said quietly to himself as he burst in to flames and flew through the streets trying to either see Ice or Cerebral.

Meanwhile…

Ice’s sword flew out of his hand and off the roof of the car park, Sarge staggered backwards screaming in agony as he gripped his wrist. Blood started to trickle down his hand as he continued to scream. Demon Hunter put his sword back away, and stood calmly looking at Sarge and Ice. “you might as well let go, it has already cut through. No matter how long you hold on you will be unable to stop it” Demon Hunter calmly said directing it towards Sarge.

As Sarge let go of his wrist, his hand fell to the floor with a splash as it hit the pool of blood. Sarge quickly screamed again, Ice looked towards the edge of the car park where his sword had gone over the edge. “Don’t even think about it Ice!” Demon Hunter yelled instantly grabbing Ice’s attention. Ice gripped his remaining sword and prepared himself. Demon Hunter placed his right hand on his sword. “No you don’t!” Sarge shouted surprising both Demon Hunter and Ice. “You bastard I am going to make you pay for what you did to my hand!” Sarge continued to shout at Demon Hunter who had turned his attention back to him. “Oh really” Demon Hunter replied trying to antagonise Sarge even further.

“No, don’t do it. Your in no position to fight” Ice said trying to reason with Sarge. “ha, I didn’t know you cared Ice!” Sarge replied as he coughed staggering forward slightly “I don’t want to see any more people die!” Ice shouted directing it at both Sarge and Demon Hunter. Sarge just smiled as he clenched his fist, “you can’t save everyone Ice, I will not die like a coward I will die like a warrior in battle against a worthy adversary.” Sarge replied as he staggered forward again and began to slowly walk towards Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter grinned and clasped his sword’s handle, a beam of light instantly shone down on him. After a few seconds the light seemed to fade, but Demon Hunter shone brighter then the sun. His whole body was alight, Sarge was now starting to pick up momentum as he started his charge towards Demon Hunter.

“ONI” Demon Hunter screamed as he started to run towards Sarge, Sarge did not slow down as he continued to charge. Ice had to cover his eyes as the light emanating from Demon Hunter was to bright. Sarge raised his fist in the air, but as he did something shot forward from Demon Hunter. As it got closer Sarge could see what it was. It was Demon Hunter himself, Sarge stunned stopped charging. Demon Hunter shot forward and jumped up towards Sarge and thrust his palm into Sarge’s body. Sarge felt his chest cave in as he started to flip backwards in the air. But in front of Sarge’s eyes Demon Hunter just seemed to dissolve in an instant in to the air. Blood burst out of Sarge’s mouth when he heard “HUNTER” being yelled from Demon Hunter. “What’s happening?” Sarge thought to himself as he flew through the air.

Ice could now see what was happening, the light around Demon Hunter had diminished, and the rest of the light was now focused around Demon Hunter sword. “How did he do that?” Ice wondered as he looked like Demon Hunter had barely moved yet Sarge was flying through the air. Demon Hunter was still charging as he dashed underneath Sarge and to the other side faster then Ice had ever see him move. Demon Hunter was crouched down with his left hand placed firmly on the ground. He held his sword in the air pointing away from him. As Ice stared at him and his sword he could see something dripping from the tip of Demon Hunter’s sword. “Blood? When did he attack?” Blaze quickly wondered as Demon Hunter said one more word “Slash”. Then Sarge yelled as a line cut through his back. Blood flew through the air as he continued to fly.

He screamed in pain as the attack hit, “Damn he’s still alive!” Ice thought to himself as he quickly acted, he threw a shard of ice at Sarge. As it pieced his trousers it snagged on them sending him flying off the building and lodged him in building opposite. The shard then shattered and Sarge disappeared out of sight. “Nice save” Demon Hunter said as he stood back up. “You… you… he was completely defenceless you had beaten him with the first attack. There was no need to go any further.” Ice said as he gripped his sword, he was started to feel very angry and he could feel his adrenaline levels rising within his own body. “Of course, I did. If I hadn’t he would of carried on his old ways terrorising and following the leaders orders. He had to be put down. You have only prolonged his life, not stopped the final outcome.” Demon Hunter said as he wiped the blood off of his sword.

“He could have changed, he could have been good. You didn’t even give him a chance, he would have helped people. He was just misled, and lied to. You never gave him the chance” Ice said as he felt the anger swelling up inside of him. “He didn’t deserve a second chance. Nobody who used or still call themselves Demon will be safe from me” Demon Hunter replied as he placed his sword back in to its sheath. “What makes you so damn special that you can decide people’s fate? This war has affected everyone in a different way. You have no right to decide which austerities are worse then others!” Ice yelled as he felt himself starting to lose control. “I have every right after what you did to me and these people for your own personal gain. You agreed to the experiments to complete super soldiers and in doing so you became minions of hell.” Demon Hunter replied as he saw Ice getting angry. “And what makes you so different from us, you too are a demon. You have more power then most demons before you and yet you look down on us!” Ice yelled as his sword became coated in another layer of ice. “I never chose to become like you, I was given it as a gift to revenge mankind by the man that created you. He saw what he had created and what he had done to mankind and he wept for his creations.” Demon Hunter replied as he slowly withdrew his sword from his sheath.

“You knew the doctor, he sent you hear to destroy us” Ice asked as he began to wonder “yes, he gave me another chance at life but in his own ironic sense has launched me in to hell. I can never rest, I knocked the gates of heaven and hell and been refused entry to both. I now wonder in limbo taking out my revenge until one of the gates open before me and I can walk through to my death” Demon Hunter replied as he sword began to glow. “I have figured it out, he gave you another chance. I can’t believe that I didn’t see it before your hair and eyes are so different. Jack is that you?” Ice asked

Two minutes ago…

Sarge hit the grass below with a thump; he let out a small moan as he rolled over to his back. He could hear voices coming from on top of the car park as he looked up there but he couldn’t see anything from where he was laying. He grabbed his wrist were his hand was missing; he was still leaking blood at an incredible rate. “Damn Ice, why couldn’t you let me die” Sarge said to himself as he rose to his feet and leant against the wall. “At this rate I am going to die of blood loss, hmm and now I can’t go to the hospital because the master is bound to be trying to kill me for failing him several times. I guess I am going to have to take my chances and go home first and try to patch my self up” Sarge said to him self as he began to feel weak. He stumbled down the street and headed for his apartment in London.

Meanwhile…

Blaze flew down the street flapping his arms and gliding through the narrow streets trying to go as fast as he possibly could. “Ice were are you damn it, I know you followed me to London. I know you too well you worry to much about everyone. Don’t die Ice, Don’t die!” Blaze yelled through the streets as a tear ran down his cheek as he felt his heart beat faster as he started to worry about Ice.

Meanwhile…

Cerebral sat upon the tower block with his head in his hands looking down upon the car park. He looked down the street and saw Sarge staggering away down the street, as he looked back down at the car park he could see Ice and Demon Hunter exchanging blows with each other. He let out a sigh as he jumped off the building and fell down to the same place were Sarge landed. He placed his hand on the wall were Sarge leaned against; it was coated in his blood. He slowly removed his hand and stared in to it. He gently licked it with his tongue tasting his blood. “hmm it doesn’t seem like he that much longer to live. Damn I will have to save Ice for later I can not pass up the opportunity for ultimate strength. And if I leave it any longer then Quake will surely find him. Quake will do anything to get brownie points for the master even if it means stealing other people’s jobs. Just like a little boy scout, don’t die now you hear Blaze is almost here to help you out anyway.”

Two minutes ago…

Demon Hunter quickly charged after hearing Ice’s words, a line cut through the air as Demon Hunter slashed his sword. Ice leapt in to the air and sent a line of ice towards Demon Hunter. He quickly sidestepped the attack and dashed towards Ice, before Ice could realise it he was beneath him. Ice sent another line of ice straight towards him, Demon Hunter just held his sword his head. The ice shattered around the sword and broke apart around him. Ice stunned continued to fall from the sky, but before he could blink the hilt of Demon Hunter’s sword was lodged in his belly. Ice gasped for air as the attack winded him. Demon Hunter fell back down to the ground and Ice crashed to the ground.

Ice quickly rose to his feet to prepare himself but his opponent was just standing there smiling. “how do you move so fast, and why are your attacks so powerful. You were nothing like this before” Ice asked as he gripped his sword “if only I had my other sword, I could give him a run for his money and keep him at bay.” Ice thought to himself. “If you can’t figure out the secret of my power, then you will have no chance in defeating me.” Demon Hunter replied as he started to charge. They both slashed at each other and their blows clashed against each other. After a while they both jumped backwards and Demon Hunter’s sword become covered in light again.

“Wait is that it, the difference in his power is because of…” Before Ice could finish his thought Demon Hunter slashed through the air. Ice created a solid wall of ice that appeared in front of him. After his attack finished Ice dropped the shield and it crumbled to nothing. “Your power, it seems to be pure energy” Ice said as Demon Hunter spun his sword through the air in a circular motion “but the energy is only coming partly from within you, you seem to be able to draw in your power from an external source. And the only variable that has changed since that day is…” Ice said before he was interrupted by Demon Hunter

“Yep you’ve figured it out, although the power within my self is by far more then enough to handle any Demon in battle I also have the ability to draw in extra power from the sun. And not only the sun, lights, fire etc. Any source of light energises me. I can then store this power for sudden bursts of speed, power or for one of my attacks.  Just like your power is twinned with your emotions and believes you gained two abilities Ice and water, although Ice is your primary element you have small control over water. This in time will increase and you will become a formidable opponent, possibly enough to turn the worlds oceans in to a type of weapon. The same with Blaze, his skills would have developed as well through out time. Gaining control of the fire in his area and it spreads as his skill develops. My primary skill is energy, this means I can condense energy in to attacks such as radiant slash, and my energy for my Oni Hunter Slash in which I can condense my energy to create duplicate of myself which then pours all of it’s energy on to the opponent putting them off guard. I then gather the energy in my feet and sword for the final blow. The energy in my feet gives me extra speed to catch the opponent off guard. In time my ability will grow, I will be able to gain the characteristics of light such as quick speed and be able to control light it self to blind enemies “ Demon Hunter said, taking a large breath of air as he rambled on for a while.

“Now I wonder, how much better then Sarge you really are?” Demon Hunter asked as he swiped the air bringing his sword down to his side. He became encased in light; Ice staggered back a bit as the light blinded him. “ONI” Demon Hunter yelled, Ice gripped his sword and prepared himself. “HUNTER” Demon Hunter grew brighter, and ice had no choice but to place his free hand in front of his eyes so he could still see. “FLARE” Demon Hunter shouted as a flash a light filled the roof that was brighter then the sun itself. Ice grabbed his eyes when he felt something hit him; he started to feel very strange. As the light died down and he gained his sight back he couldn’t see Demon Hunter anywhere in front of him. He instantly knew what had happened. He then heard a voice from behind him. “I guess not after all” Demon Hunter calmly said. All of sudden slashes riddled Ice’s chest as the blows cut through his skin and cut deep in to his chest. Ice fell to his knees just to see Blaze land on the roof with his sword.

Ice just smiled as he hit the floor with a thump, Demon Hunter wiped the blood off his sword and turned around. He instantly saw Blaze who dropped Ice’s sword on the floor. Demon Hunter stared stunned at Blaze as he stood in front of him. “Your still alive? Do you want to experience your own death again then?” Demon Hunter said as he stood shocked that Blaze was still alive. “I…Ice… no” Blaze stuttered as tears started to roll down his cheek, he could feel his heart beat faster and faster. He gripped his fist, at first it hurt as he gripped harder but soon all the feeling in his body started to fade away. His body burst in to flames as he felt his rage building up in side of him. “Ice, why?” He said through gritted teeth as the blood seeped out from underneath his still body.

The kunai knife’s shot forward in to each of Blaze’s hands; Demon Hunter once again slowly withdrew his sword. “This sure has been a busy day, three demons in one day. This time I will make sure that there is no chance that you can back from your fate” Demon Hunter said as the sword glowed white again. “You… You have no right to play god, He strived to protect everyone and everything. He always tried his best not to fight and you went and slaughtered him knowing he didn’t stand a chance. He didn’t even have both his weapons and he was still weak from his fight. Have you no honour or pride?” Blaze yelled as the flames around him grew brighter. “Shut up, I have had enough of you Demon’s and yourself righteous statements. You have no rights, no honour or pride. You are like dogs are I will kill you like one too!” Demon Hunter yelled as he started to get angry with Blaze’s statement.

Blaze dropped Ice’s other sword on the floor, and flew through the air in to the sky. “hmm it seems like your powers have grown Blaze but it will not save you from me.” Demon Hunter said as his feet also began to glow white. Blaze flapped his arms as he gained altitude, after a while he stopped and the flames retreated back in to his hair. He quickly threw the kunai knifes at Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter swiped them away with his sword with ease and they became lodged in to the ground on either side of him. Blaze grinned as he saw this, “Blazin Torpedo!” Blaze shouted as his whole body became engulfed in flames once again. Demon Hunter looked up in to the sky as he could feel the intense heat from this distance away. Then in a split second Blaze turned on the recoil function of his weapon, but instead of the knifes going back Blaze hurtled towards Demon Hunter. Before he could moves Blaze crashed in to him, the impact knocked Demon Hunter through the ledge of the level sending shards of rock, dust and concrete in to the air. Demon Hunter slammed in to the old terrace housing building opposite. He cracked the wall as he did blood escaped his mouth and he fell to the ground with a crash. The crack started to spread across the building and the wall collapsed in on itself creating a cloud of dust that covered the area.

Blaze knew that that wasn’t enough to win; he quickly jumped off the roof and looked down at the concrete pavement below. He couldn’t see the bottom or Demon Hunter as the cloud of dust obscured his view of the street. He looked straight ahead and fired on of the kunai knifes in to the distance horizontal of where he was standing. “Blazin Whip” he shouted as he swung his right arm down causing the chain the pull down. The knife quickly pulled back and cut through the dust and wreckage below with ease. But before the knife hit, Demon Hunter appeared through the dust. Blaze quickly fired his left one at him, but Demon Hunter swiped it to the side. It became lodged in the side wall of the car park. “oh no” was the only thing Demon Hunter had time to say as Blaze smashed him though the second to top level floor. Demon Hunter went skidding across the car park floor until finally stopping. “ah hot hot hot” he said as parts of his suit jacket caught fire. He quickly put it out by rolling on the floor putting the fire out. After this he quickly jumped up to the top floor to try and get the advantage.

As he reached it Blaze was already waiting for him standing by Ice’s dead body. The pool of blood had almost been completely dried up by the heat from Blaze’s body. “I must say you surprised me Blaze. But it will not save you” Demon Hunter said as his whole body started to glow white. Blaze prepared him self as Demon Hunter was about to attack. “ONI” Demon Hunter said when suddenly Ice’s body moved slightly. Ice turned over and the cuts in his body had gone. He slowly rose back up and crouched on his knees as he looked around. As he looked forward he saw Demon Hunter who had returned back to normal standing there staring at him in disbelieve. “But how?” Demon Hunter said quietly as he stood there with his mouth wide open in disbelieve.

As Ice looked around he saw Blaze standing besides him, his flames had retreated back around his hair again. “ha ha ha” Ice laughed as he saw Blaze. Blaze just stared at him before getting annoyed with him “What, What’s so funny!” Blaze shouted staring his fist at Ice. “Your clothes, ha ha, you have no fashion sense what’s so ever. Ha ha ha” Ice laughed as he fell on to his back in hysterics. “What! Look at you, yours clothes are all blood soaked and ragged!” Blaze shouted as he bent over shaking Ice by the sleeves of his coat. Demon Hunter just stood in awe as the two continued to fight between themselves. Ice carried on laughing as Blaze kept shouting at him saying he looked better out of the two of them. Demon Hunter quickly lost his temper with them both “Stop playing around! Don’t mock me!” Demon Hunter shouted, the two quickly stopped their bickering and focused on him.

Blaze stood back up and Ice also rose to his feet. Ice slowly walked over to his other sword and picked it up off the floor. As he turned back to face Demon Hunter, he rose his swords in the air and them placed them back in to their sheaths. “We have no reason to fight you” Ice calmly said as he walked over to the ledge of the car park signalling to Blaze for him to follow him. “What do you mean no reason? I will kill you otherwise!” Demon Hunter shouted as the two walked away from him. “We have no reason to fight, as we no longer serve the so called master. If anything thing we share common enemies, making it more sense to form an alliance.” Ice said as he hoped on the ledge of the car park “An alliance, I don’t need help from you. I will never forgive you!” Demon Hunter shouted as his sword started to glow white again. “You seem unclear on the events that happen that eventful night. I myself was still being created and Blaze was still in the lab being tested on. It was first lot of Demon’s that carried out that dark deed. Mainly Cerebral, Volt, Quake and the master himself dirtied their hands that night.” Ice said as he turned around to face Demon Hunter

“I… I don’t believe you” Demon Hunter stuttered as his true enemies became known to him. “Believe what you want, but if you ever need our help we will be there for you Jack. Just like old times, it’s been to long old friend” Ice said as he disappeared over the edge. “What he’s Jack? I don’t recognise him without the uniform” Blaze shouted as he also jumped of the edge after Ice. Thousands of questions and doubts entered Demon Hunter’s mind but somehow Ice’s words rang true in his mind. There were many questions that needed answering before the end could be told.

One hour later…

In a small apartment building Sarge quietly pushes open the door to his flat, as the door opens he stumbles in side falling on his hands and knees. He could feel himself slipping away from reality. He gently pushed the door to a close, and managed to stand up leaning against the door. Suddenly he realised that he wasn’t alone as he could here footsteps coming from the other side of his apartment when out stepped in to the light Cerebral. “Why hello Sarge, you sure have kept me waiting. You have delayed me in my goal and we can’t have that now, can we? So I think it’s proper that you compensate me for my time.” Cerebral coolly and calmly said as he walked towards Sarge with bloodlust in his eyes. Sarge pushed himself forward off the door, and raised his fist and threw a punch at Cerebral. Cerebral easily blocked the attack by raising his left arm. Cerebral then thrust his right hand in to Sarge’s stomach. His hand cut through the skin and tore in to Sarge’s belly. Sarge tried to scream in agony but he couldn’t conjure any more strength from his body.  Cerebral instantly tore in to the neck with his fanged teeth and started to drink the blood that oozed from his body. A tear ran down Sarge’s cheek as Cerebral started to consume him, he wanted to scream but he couldn’t. Then Sarge heard Cerebral voice inside his mind, “Don’t worry it will all be over soon. Then you will become part of me and you will live forever inside me”
