Demon Hunter Chronicles

Chapter 2

A True Demon Knows No Fear

Europe – England – London

As the full moon shone down on the desolate city, the smoke rose up like a savage beast blocking it from sight casting the city below in to perpetual darkness. On top of one of the many broken and ruined city apartment buildings, a figure leaned over the ledge of the roof and stared down in to the black smoke below when ever so often so gaps appeared where he could peer down to the streets below. A smile appeared on his face when in the distance he could see a man running across the rooftops with fire illuminating him on either side.

The figure slowly stood up as the moonlight hit him he let out a breath of air which turned to wisps of smoke in the cold night air. He was wearing army camouflage trousers and a grey mesh shirt which barely covered his skin. He reached in to his pocket and pulled out a cigarette and a lighter. The figure slowly moistened the tip of the cigarette with his lips before letting it rest in his mouth. He raised his lighter to the mouth, covering it with his hand to protect it from the strong winds. The flame flickered in his hand before coming to life lighting up his face. There was a long scar running down his face which cut across his eye.

The figure took a long deep breath trying to take in a much of the smoke as possible, before slowly releasing it through his nose with a sigh. He flicked the lid back on to his lighter, and put it back in to his pocket before bringing his hand back up to take the cigarette out of his mouth. He looked back down at Blaze as he watched him run across the rooftops with increasing speed, before he finally dropped down in between two buildings and out of sight. The man let out a grunt as he made a mental note of where Blaze had disappeared from sight. He took another deep intake from the cigarette as the cigarette quickly burnt away. Once again he slowly exhaled the cigarette through his nose. “So then, I wonder what has gotten you so scared then?” The figure said to him self. “I guess I better go wipe your back side then, other wise I will be the one to get in trouble with boss.” And with that the figure flicked his cigarette off the edge of the building, and watched it as it slowly fell spinning through the air until it finally disappeared out of sight through the smoke below. The figure spun around and walked across the rooftop towards the exit. As he reached it, he kicked open the door and the figure disappeared from view as he walked through.

Asia – Middle East – War Zone

The chopper blades were deafening as the helicopter headed to the landing zone, music blasted through the headsets of those on board. “War, Huh, What it is good for! Absolutely Nothing!” One of the soldiers started to sign along with the music. The other soldiers quickly threw containers of junk at him as he swatted them away. “Turn that shit off Wilson!” The large man at the end of the helicopter said. The music was quickly turned off as the soldiers straightened up. “Sorry Sarge” Wilson said with his head lowered embarrassed. “Listen up everybody!” Sarge said as he walked across the helicopter towards the cockpit.

“We are landing in enemy territory, our mission to eliminate this man” Sarge said holding up a picture of a Middle Eastern man in a military uniform. “He is one of the leading generals for the Middle Eastern Coalition Forces, and he is a real sick son of a bitch. He specialises in chemical warfare and is responsible for the death of ten thousand people in the terrorist attack on Boston.” Several of men lowered their heads in remembrance while others simply clenched their fists. “Our other objective is to destroy his weapon cache. Intel has located it at this position.” Sarge said pointing at a satellite picture of the area. “It is ten clicks north of the LZ and we will be proceeding there on foot, be prepared to encounter patrols of enemy hostiles on the way. You have your orders, how long till we land?” Sarge said asking the pilot. The pilot quickly turned his head, “ETA is five minutes” The pilot replied. “Ok you heard him, you have five minutes so gear up and get ready”

Forty Minutes Later…

Wilson slammed against the wall as he dived behind cover to stay out of sight, he slowly peered his head around the corner. He could see the building in front of him; he waved his hand signalling to the others that it was clear to follow of him. From across the street Sarge and two other soldiers appeared from the shadows and ran across the street crouched down to avoid being seen. They all quickly lined up behind Wilson, “What are we looking at Wilson” Sarge said as he tapped Wilson on the shoulder. “Looks like the place Sarge” Wilson replied. Sarge slowly changed places with Wilson as he then peered around the corner. “That’s it alright” Sarge said as he saw a large building that had a large round dome and a large archway that leads in to the building. He saw several guards patrolling up and down the roof, and several guards in front of the archway. Sarge quickly turned around and crouched down as did the other soldiers.

“Does everybody remember the plan; our key objective is to eliminate the general, secondary to destroy the chemical research lab. We don’t want to be drawn in to a gun fight, so use your silencers and stay hidden. We will go in to the building and plant the device. Jefferson, you ready?” Sarge said, as Jefferson removed his backpack and un-did the zip showing a metal container with blinking LED. “It’s ready to go Sarge, I just need to arm it and set the timer.” Jefferson said zipping it back up. “Good, Jefferson and Henderson, you two go around the back and find an alternative route on to the roof. Wilson get on to the roof of this building and provide covering fire if things go wrong. I will provide covering fire from here and keep the path to the extraction point clear” Sarge said as everybody quickly replied yes.

“Wait do you guys hear that?” Wilson said as everybody went quiet, the faint sound of engines could be heard in the distance. “Shit, everybody get down” Sarge said as everybody hit the deck. Suddenly several cars veered around the corner of the building and pulled up in front of the archway. Out of the back and front cars several soldiers appeared, out of the middle car the driver got out and moved down the car and opened the door holding it open. “What the hell is going on” Sarge said as they got back up and he peered around the corner.

Suddenly out of the archway the general appeared and started to walk towards the car. “Fuck” Sarge said as he quickly pressed his finger against his ear. “Come in, this hotel, Charlie, Delta 54 come in over.” Sarge said whispering. “Copy that Hotel, Charlie, Delta 54 reading you loud and clear over” Sounded in his ear from headquarters. “We have visual confirmation on the target, he is entering a vehicle with an armed escort. Please Advise over” Sarge said as he peered back around the corner to see the General entering the car. “Understood, please wait over” Was the response from HQ. Several seconds passed as the cars started to pull away. “Ok, we have visual confirmation from the satellite. The target is being locked; guns will be firing in one minute. Your secondary objective is now your main priority, good luck over.” HQ responded before the line turned to static.

“Ok the guns will be firing in one minute, Henderson, Jefferson get ready. We will use that distraction to enter the building. Wilson top of the building now go” Sarge said as they gripped their weapons. Wilson quickly turned around kicked open the door behind them and ran up to the roof as fast as he could. Jefferson and Henderson stood by the edge of the wall ready to go; suddenly a whistling noise could be heard. “Hear it comes get ready” Sarge said as he looked around the corner seeing the cars further of down the street. All of a sudden the shells hit, causing explosions and fire in a large area. The cars flew in to the air broken in to pieces, the ground shook beneath the force of the blast and a deafening roar filled the air. Several soldiers quickly left their posts and headed to the scene as several building started to collapse from the force of the blast.

“Now go go go!” Sarge shouted knowing he couldn’t be heard by anybody else because of the noise of the explosion. Henderson and Jefferson quickly ran across the street while the guards were distracted. Henderson and Jefferson quickly pressed against the wall and each removed a handgun from their belts. They both aimed at the roof and fired; two hooks flew out and lodged securely in to the side of the roof. “Wilson where the hell are you” Sarge shouted down the radio. “I am almost there Sarge, there, setting up now” Wilson replied as he lay his scoped rifle down on the ledge of the roof to support. He quickly lay down in the prone position and pressed his eye against the scope. “There are two bogies on the roof Sarge.” Wilson said as he saw two guards standing side by side at the front of the building looking down the street at what had happened.

“Take the shot Wilson, Henderson and Jefferson wait for my order” Sarge said as he looked up at the roof of the building. Wilson looked down the scope and took deep breaths to steady him self, he pressed his finger gently against the trigger waiting for the right moment. One of the guards slowly started to turn around, Wilson quickly pulled the trigger. The bullet hit the guard in the neck as he fell to his knees grasping his throat, the other guard quickly turned around as Wilson fired again this time hitting the guard in the chest causing him to fall to the floor. “Roof clear” Wilson said over the radio. “Now go” Sarge said quickly.

Henderson and Jefferson quickly scaled the wall and jumped over the ledge on to the roof. They crouched down and walked across the roof where they saw a hole covered by iron bars. “I think we have found a way in Sarge” Henderson said as he removed a pen shaped object from his back pocket. He pushed a button on the top of the object and a laser shot forward from the bottom. He focused the laser on the metal bars and it slowly started to cut through them. As he cut through them Jefferson grabbed the bar and placed it quietly to the side. After all the bars had been cut through Henderson put the laser back in to his back pocket. “We’re in Sarge” Henderson said quietly over the radio. “Got it, carry out the mission. I and Wilson will cover your back; make sure you protect the device.” Sarge said as he crouched down and peered down the scope covering the entrance. Henderson peered in to the room, the cell was empty and the door was ajar. “Perfect” Henderson muttered to himself. “You had better wait here” Henderson said as he started to lower himself in to the cell. “What” Jefferson said trying not to raise his voice too loudly. “We have to protect the device, I will secure the corridor first” Henderson said as he landed in the cell.

Henderson stuck his mirror out to peer round the corner. There was a long corridor that was badly lit by two hanging flickering lights. At one end of the corridor there was a guard peering out of the bars at the commotion outside, beside him was a staircase, down the other end of the corridor was what appeared to be more empty cells. Henderson reached down to his side and pulled out a knife. He slowly opened the door some more so that he could squeeze through it. Henderson crouched down and slowly walked towards the guard. As he got closer he could hear the guard muttering something in a language he couldn’t understand. Henderson slowly got behind and with his left hand he grabbed his mouth, the guards eyes lit up as he saw Henderson’s right arm come swinging in to his chest. The guard’s eyes filled with horror, and he started to breathe rapidly until it stopped. Henderson slowly laid the guard on the floor and removed his weapon from the body.

“Jefferson the coast is clear” Henderson said over the radio as he cleaned his knife. Jefferson slowly dropped down in to the cell and joined up with Henderson. Henderson and Jefferson slowly walked down the stairs; at the end was a long corridor with a glass door at the end. Henderson and Jefferson pressed against the wall and peered through the glass in to the room. Inside the room where two scientists were working in what appeared to be lab, “Guess we found it” Jefferson said as they both put on their gas masks and removed their silenced pistols. “Ready” Henderson said with his hand on the door “As I ready as I’ll will ever be” Jefferson said grasping his hand gun with both hands.

Henderson quickly thrust opened the door as he raised his pistol, the two scientists barely had time to raise their heads before both Jefferson and Henderson fired their pistols. The two scientists quickly collapsed the floor dead. Henderson quickly ran over to the other door and removed his laser, and started to fuse the handle to the door. Jefferson quickly removed the device from his backpack and placed it under the lab table. He started to push several buttons and a timer suddenly appeared on the device, which was on two minutes and started to count down. “Timer set and the device has been armed” Jefferson said over the radio when suddenly an alarm started to sound through out the building.

Henderson and Jefferson quickly looked around until they saw a camera in the corner. “Shit” Henderson said as he quickly raised his pistol and destroyed the camera. “Sir we have been spotted” Jefferson said as suddenly several bullets slammed against the glass door right in front of Henderson making him fall over. “Fucking hell that was close” Henderson said as the bullets bounced off the glass. Jefferson quickly opened the other door and opened fire down it as several guards came running down the corridor. Henderson rose to his feet as several guards started to kick against the door that he had fused shut. “We have to get out of here now!” Jefferson shouted to Henderson as he continued to fire down the corridor. Henderson looked at the clock, “but it still has one minute and thirty seconds left they might be able to disable it still” Jefferson quickly turned and pressed against the wall as several bullets flew past the door and hit several test tubes and beakers sending liquid flying. “What is your situation over there” Sarge said as he heard gun fire over the radio.

“We are in the lab and we are leaving now. The device has one minute left” Jefferson replied over the radio as he loaded another clip in to the rifle. “Get out of there now” Sarge shouted down the radio “Wilson, we going to draw the attention away from them so they have a chance to get out.” Sarge said as he opened fire at the guards at the entrance. “Roger that Sarge, opening fire on the bastards now” Wilson replied as he peered over the edge firing down the guards below. “We are leaving now!” Jefferson shouted to Henderson as he turned around the corner and opened fire down the corner. “Go now” Jefferson said as Henderson run down the corner with Jefferson behind. Suddenly a small explosion sounded behind them as the guards kicked down the door to the lab.

Jefferson and Henderson quickly ran to the stairs, Henderson quickly ran up while Jefferson turned around and opened fire at the guards in the lab. The device finally ticked over as the top opened up and white gas poured out from the top filling the room. Jefferson quickly turned and followed Henderson up to the exit. As they reached the cell Henderson jumped up and grabbed hold of the ledge, Jefferson grabbed his feet and started to push him up. Suddenly bullets rained down around him, Henderson quickly let go of the ledge and fell on top of Jefferson as two fell to the floor. “Wilson! We are under attack from the roof! Sort it out! Now!” Jefferson shouted over the radio.

Wilson looked up and saw several guards on the building opposite firing down on the roof. “I see them, hold on” Wilson said as he looked through his scope and fired. The soldiers fell off the roof and plummeted to the floor below. Wilson scoped around the roof and the other building to check for any other threats. “It’s all clear” Wilson said as Henderson jumped back up. Jefferson quickly pushed him up as he pulled himself on to the roof; Jefferson instantly kicked the cell door closed as he heard sounds coming from down the corridor. Henderson leaned over and offered his hand; Jefferson jumped up and grabbed it as Henderson pulled Jefferson up and on to the roof.

“They are on the roof Sarge” Wilson said as he saw them both emerge. “Good everybody head for the extraction point” Sarge said when suddenly he heard shouting from behind him; he instantly turned around to see several groups of soldiers heading towards him. Sarge quickly dived out of the way as they opened fire on his position. Sarge quickly ran inside of the building and towards the stairs. “Change of plans, the way to the extraction point is blocked” Sarge said as he ran as fast as he could up the stairs. “What? What the hell are we going to do now!?” Wilson shouted over the radio as he started to fire again at the guards in the archway. “Hotel, Charlie, Delta 54 requesting immediate extraction over” Sarge said pressing his finger to his ear.

“Transport is waiting at the designated extraction point, make your way there for extraction over” came the reply. Sarge slammed his fist in to the banister as he neared the roof. “Negative, unable to make it to the extraction point, under heavy fire requesting immediate extraction over” Sarge said with a stern tone. “That’s a negative; your location is too hot for extraction. Advice you move to another location over” The man replied. “Why you, we are under heavy fire, repeat heavy fire from multiple hostiles over” Sarge said as he slammed open the door to the roof and slammed it closed again “Don’t worry folks, this is T-Bird here we are on our way. ETA two minutes” The pilot said. “Hell yeah” Wilson shouted over the radio as he loaded another clip in to the rifle. “Jefferson, Henderson take cover evac in two minutes and counting.” Sarge said over the radio.

They quickly took cover in between two water tanks on the roof. “This is T-Bird here, moving on to your location now. Pop green smoke to indicate your position, I repeat pop green smoke over.” The pilot said as Sarge could see him in the distance. “You heard him folks, pop the green smoke” Sarge said as he place a container on the floor and pulled a cord. Green smoke started to pour out of it and in to the sky, Henderson quickly placed his container and also pulled the cord. “That’s it I have confirmation on your locations, moving in now, take cover over” The helicopter quickly came in to the middle of the two buildings as the soldiers below opened fire at it. Suddenly the helicopter opened fire from its side gattling guns. “This is Hyde here, raining a torrent of hell upon them” Hyde said as he fired the gun down at the soldiers below. “You son of a bitch Hyde it’s good to see your ugly mug again.” Sarge said as he moved to the ledge with Wilson

“Hang on, we have a lock on. Taking evasive actions, popping flares” T-Bird said as several flares popped out the bottom of the helicopter. Out of nowhere a missile went soaring towards the helicopter, it went flying past it and exploded in to the building next to Sarge and Wilson. “Where the hell did that come from” Sarge said as he looked around. “There!” Wilson shouted pointing at the rooftops next to them. Two soldiers carrying missile launchers stood there reloading. Sarge and Wilson quickly fired upon them forcing them to take cover. “That’s enough playing now get us out of here” Jefferson said as him and Henderson opened fire on the same location as Sarge and Wilson. The helicopter slowly moved over Jefferson and Henderson location while Hyde continued to fire down on the soldiers in the street below who had taken cover.

Hyde quickly through down two wires which had completely unravelled before they hit the floor. Jefferson and Henderson quickly grabbed hold of the wires, “Ok, bring us up” Henderson over the radio. Hyde flipped a switch and the two were lifted up towards the helicopter as the wire wound back up. Hyde quickly turned around to man the gun as the helicopter was pelted by enemy fire. Sarge and Wilson carried on firing at the two soldiers on the roof to suppress them. Henderson and Jefferson quickly reached the helicopter where they pulled themselves abroad. “Were on board T-Bird” Jefferson shouted up to the cockpit as started to fire down at the soldiers below. “Hang on, we are moving to your position now. Keep those missiles off us for as long as you can” T-Bird said as he began moving the helicopter across the street.

“Copy that, we are running low on ammo. Doing the best we can” Sarge replied as he loaded the last clip in to his assault rifle. “Hey Henderson take over here for me” Hyde said as he ran over to the other side of the helicopter, Henderson quickly grabbed hold of the gun and continued to fire suppressing fire. Hyde grabbed hold of a grenade from the side of door as he leaned against the helicopter as bullets whizzed past him from below. He put his finger through the pin and quickly leaned around the corner and lobbed the grenade on to the roof with the missile troops. Suddenly the grenade exploded sending shrapnel everywhere; the two soldiers flew off the roof in a bloody mess towards the floor below. “I did it, yeah I rock” Hyde said as thrust his arm in to the air. “Good job Hyde now drop the damn wires so we can get out of here!” Sarge said as both he and Wilson emptied the last of the clips in to the streets below.

“Yeah sorry” Hyde said as he lobbed two of the wires out of the helicopter towards Sarge and Wilson. They both quickly grabbed hold of the wire, and Hyde quickly flipped the switch to hoist them up. Sarge and Wilson were quickly carried through the air, as they reached the helicopter Hyde quickly grabbed them and pulled them on board. “Okay that’s everybody T-Bird let’s get the hell out of here” Hyde said as he closed the side door of the helicopter. “Roger that” T-Bird replied as he pulled away from the buildings and quickly rose in to the sky. The helicopter then quickly headed for the desert on the outskirts of the city. “We did it guys good job” Sarge said as he collapsed on the helicopter floor. “Come in this is Hotel, Charlie, Delta 54 the weapons are destroyed, confirmed multiple enemy units requesting immediate artillery at target co-ordinates” Sarge said as he got up and headed in to the cockpit.

“Roger that, guns firing over” Was the response that came over the radio as Sarge sat down in the seat. In the distance several flashes could be seen where the guns were firing, suddenly a red light lit up in the cockpit and siren sounded in the helicopter. “Damn got a lock on” T-Bird said as he quickly took evasive measures “What the hell is going on up there?” Hyde shouted as he thrown off his feet. “Everybody strap in I can’t avoid it and we have no flares left” T-Bird said, every body quickly sat down and got strapped in. The missile hit the back of the helicopter, the helicopter quickly started to spiral out of control. T-Bird tried his best to straighten the helicopter but it was no use. The helicopter went smashing in to the floor below, and the sound of crunching metal was the last thing Sarge could hear before everything black.

Europe – England – London – Apartment Building

The door fell down with a thunderous boom; several people went running through the corridor trying to get away. They ran for the stairs and the back exit as fast as they could, through the door the man appeared with his mesh top and camouflage trousers. He stepped in to the hallway and looked up the long flight of stairs. “Where are you? I know that you’re here Blaze!” He shouted at the top of his voice up the stairs. “Show your self Blaze” He continued to shout out. He looked forward seeing most people either running past him or out the back. As he looked up he saw the end of a black coat disappearing out of sight on the third floor. “I’ve found you Blaze” He muttered to him self as he stormed up the stairs as fast as his legs would carry him.

In front of him was a small wooden door, “There is nowhere for you too go this time Blaze” He said as he raised his foot and slammed it in to the door knocking it off it’s hinges. The door slammed against the floor, showing Blaze sitting with his feet up on a desk in front of him. “I knew that I would finally find you again” The man said as he entered the room. “Well I suppose it has been a little while hasn’t it, Sarge” Blaze said as Sarge stood in front of the desk. “I have waited a long time for the time we meet again, this time I will win Blaze” Sarge said as he clenched his shoulders. Blaze simply shrugged his shoulders, “Well you do like to hold on to your silly grudges now don’t you Sarge. Unfortunately I have no desire to fight with you again at the moment” Blaze said as he took his feet of the desk.

“You don’t have a choice Blaze; this is a matter of honour I will redeem my self in my master’s eyes” Sarge said as he placed a hand of the desk. “Enough of your silly honour now is neither the time nor the place for it. We have a more dangerous situation.” Blaze said not looking directly at Sarge. “You stole it from me, I was the leader” Sarge said slamming his fist in to the table snapping it in half. “You lost it because of your own incompetence, and I offered you a chance to regain it but you lost fair and square. Oh do you not remember how you received that scar on your face. Now that is the end of it” Blaze said as he finally turned to face him.

“An enemy has appeared he appears to be like us” Blaze said instantly grabbing Sarge’s attention. “Like us? But how?” Sarge said puzzled. “I am unsure; the master is looking in to it at the moment. However he seems to be quite capable, so the master has ordered us to join forces to eliminate him.” Blaze said standing up out of his chair. “And why should I help you” Sarge said waving his hand through the air. “Because it is the master’s orders” Blaze quickly replied in a stern tone. Sarge turned his head and clenched his fists “Fine” He finally said through gritted teeth. “Good, we will fight him tonight outside here. I will draw him out, he will probably be expecting a trap but he will come any way he is too sure of himself not to” Blaze said as he sat back down in his chair. “Ok” Sarge said as he slowly turned around and exited the room, “You were always cocky Blaze, this will finally be your downfall” Sarge thought to himself as he walked down the stairs

Sarge lay in a hospital bed with curtains surrounding him; he was strapped up to different types of medical equipment, which were testing all sorts of different things. He just lay there completely still looking up at the ceiling, when the curtains started to draw back. Sarge lifted his head slightly and saw the outline of a man standing there. “Don’t worry, it’s just me” The figure said still standing in the shadows. “Sir, what are you doing here?” Sarge said as he quickly sat up in bed. “Well I was informed that you had finally woken up, so I thought I would come say hello. It has been a long time after all” The man said as he pulled up a chair and sat down on the edge of the curtains.

“Sir, what happened? I can’t remember anything and nobody will tell me anything” Sarge said pleading with the man. “Hmm I understand, it must be very frustrating. I presume they didn’t want to inform you because it might cause you some sort of distress.” The man said as he raised his hand to his chin. “Please Sir, tell me” Sarge said begging him. “Very well, Sarge you have been in a coma for the past three years” The man said waiting for Sarge’s reaction. “Three years? What about everybody else?” Sarge said puzzled. “I am afraid that you were the only survivor that the rescue team found, the rest were either dead at the location or were DOA by the time they reached the medical facility. You were the only one to make it and even that was doubtful, nobody thought you would pull through or ever wake up again.” The man said.

Sarge slammed his fist in to the bed in anger, “Damn! Jefferson, Henderson, Wilson their all dead, damn those bastards they will pay for this” Sarge said as the man saw that he was quite clearly getting very angry. “Now now, a lot has happened, but now is not the time. I have a proposition for you Sarge that will help you get your revenge.” The man said and Sarge instantly looked at him surprised. “We are developing a new weapon, one that will alter the course of this war. I would like you to spearhead the project for me, what do you say?” The man said reaching out his arm. Sarge hesitated for a split second before offering his hand. “Yes Sir” Sarge said as the two shook on it. “Well that will be all for now, I will come get you in a week’s time. Take care till then” The man said as he started to walk away. “Sir, thank you” Sarge said with his head lowered, the man then left the room.

England – London – Apartment Building

Demon Hunter stood in front of the apartment building, sunlight was starting to break through the smoke above. Demon Hunter stood in the rays of sun light and let the warmth spread around his body. He looked up at the sky as the sun light hit his face; he slowly looked back down in front of him and saw the broken door and the empty apartment building. He looked up once more before slowly walking out of the light and in to the apartment building. It was depressing place, paper and paint was peeling off the walls due to neglect, banisters were collapsing or missing pieces, doors lay broken or with marks, Demon Hunter slowly walked up the stairs and towards the third floor.
As he got there he could see the signs of a fight as pieces of furniture lays shattered and broken around the landing and in the room closet to him. The door lay on the floor on its hinges, as he looked in to the room he could see a piece of paper hanging up from the wall. Demon Hunter walked up to it and tore it off from the wall, “Dear Mr Demon Hunter. Unfortunately I can not stay and play with you now as I am very busy, but do not despair as I will meet you later. Meet me 8pm, out on the street, it is time to end this.” he said reading the note out loud. “Blaze isn’t stupid, this has to be some sort of trap” he thought to himself as he threw the note to the floor. “But I have no choice” He said out loud as he walked back down the stairs.

A massive hall with pictures of battles line the walls, illuminated by the soft glow of light from beneath them. In the middle sits a throne on top a circular platform, with a long eloquent red carpet that leads to the entrance where a large pair of wooden doors stands. Several people stand in the shadows of either side of the carpet and on top of the throne sits a large man. Suddenly the door creaked open slowly filling the hall with light; Sarge slowly emerges through the doors as they slowly slam shut behind casting the room in to a shadowy darkness. Sarge slowly walked down the red carpet through the people on either side and stopped just before the podium, Sarge knelt down and placed both his hands on the floor either side of him self and lowered his head.

“You failed me Sarge” The man said tapping the arm on his throne, “I am sorry master” Sarge said not daring to look up. “Explain yourself Sarge, why did you fail me!?” The man said as he slammed his palm against the throne causing a massive bang. “Sir, because of his mutiny there was a hole in the flank and we were quickly surrounded. I did the best that I could in the situation.” Sarge said sounding remorseful. “The best you could, you lost half of the entire squad! You have now given them false hope! And they are rallying against us! You have set the Ironfist back several months!” The man said clearly losing his temper.

“You are hereby stripped of your rank, you are not one to give orders anymore Sarge” The man said saying his name in a sarcastic manner. “Blaze, you are now in command. Do not fail me! Now all of you get out of my sight!” The man shouted before slumping back in to his throne. Sarge slowly got up and walked out of the room with everybody else following behind him. “I will regain my position I swear it, I swear it on my honour and I swear it for you Jefferson, Henderson and Wilson. I won’t let your deaths be in vain, I promise I will make a difference to this world” Sarge thought to himself as he walked out of the door.

Black clouds covered the skies as the rain poured down on to the ground below, a large church sat in the middle of a field, it’s spire raised up in to the sky and it’s bell rang in to air and could be heard for miles in every direction. Singing could be heard from within the church as the choir sang their hymns. Outside the church several trees protruded from the ground, they stood strong around the many graves of the dead. The rain hit the ground creating mud and puddles around the graveyard. As the bell from the church rang and rang, one of the tombstones started to shake. The ground beneath began to move, with sharp thrusts the ground moved up and down. Lightning suddenly rained down hitting the earth and the sound of thunder filled the air. A hand quickly shot forth from the grave a white flame surrounding it as the water hissed and spit as it hit the flame. The flame quickly died down showing a arm covered in mud that slowly rose higher in to the air before grabbing hold of the ground around it.

Demon Hunter let out a large yawn, as he stretched out his arms and stood up; he pushed his arms out by his side as he let out another yawn. He put his palm on his face and slid it down across it, he then rubbed his eyes and he tried to wake him self up properly after his sleep. He looked out the window and could just about see the moon through the black smoke which always seemed to loom over the city. Demon Hunter walked over to the window and opened it; as he did he could hear a voice from down the street, shouting out his name. “Mr Demon Hunter, it is time. Where are you Mr Demon Hunter?” Blaze shouted from the street below as he paced up and down.

Demon Hunter closed the window and exited the room, as he reached the banister; he placed one hand on it and leapt over it. He landed effortlessly on to the floor below; very small amounts of dust and debris fly up in to the air as Demon Hunter stood back up and walked towards the door. Demon Hunter emerged from the building and walked in to the middle of the street

Down the street Blaze could see him emerge from the building and let out a little smirk. “He’s here” Blaze said as he could see Demon Hunter standing in the middle of the street illuminated by the lights coming from the lobby. As Demon Hunter turned to face Blaze he could see that Blaze was not alone, as standing on either side of him were two soldiers with their assault rifles pointing at Demon Hunter.

“I hope for your sake, that you brought better back up than that Blaze” Demon Hunter shouted down the street towards Blaze. “Just you wait and see” Blaze whispered quietly to himself. The two soldiers were both starting to become nervous and started to wonder what was going to happen. “You two!” Demon Hunter shouted down the street. The two soldiers stepped back slightly, as they realised that the man was speaking to them. “If you leave now, I will not harm you. My quarrel is only with the man standing beside you!” the two soldiers looked at each other quickly and began to wonder what to do. Blaze raised his arms and grasped on to the handles of both his swords on his back. “You shall fight for the name of the Ironfist, you shall kill for the Ironfist, and you shall die for the Ironfist, anyone who doesn’t will die a coward’s death!” Blaze shouted out, as the two soldiers both took large gulps and moved slightly forward towards their enemy. “Now show this fool the full force of the Ironfist!” Blaze shouted at the two soldiers ordering them to attack.

The two soldiers shouted “For the Ironfist!” and fired their weapons; the bullets went flying past Demon Hunter as he quickly disappeared down a back alley. The two soldier’s ceased fire when they saw that he had disappeared from their line of sight. Everything went quiet as the smoke came rising out of the barrels of the soldier’s guns. All of sudden an explosion ran through the alley way Demon Hunter had disappeared in to. The fire burst out in to the street lighting it up. Then the buildings further down the streets from the soldiers windows shattered, the glass went flying out in to the street covering it with glass. The glass shimmered as it reflected the glow of the fire from down the street. The two soldiers took a step back and desperately scanned the area to try and see Demon Hunter some where.

Then the windows of the building next to them shattered as the glass fell down on to the ground below, the soldiers covered their faces with their arms while Blaze just stood there with his hands on his two swords. As the last piece of glass hit the floor, it shattered in to a million pieces. The glass from the building didn’t reach the street, the soldiers let go of their clothing and let out a sigh of relief that they had managed to avoid it. All the glass had fallen on the sidewalk and was barely visible in the darkness of the night. Everything then went quiet, Demon Hunter was no where to be seen as the two soldiers scanned the area with their eyes afraid to move. Then as the two soldier moved closer together they could see a shimmer of something down the street. They stood side by side and opened fire on it, as they stopped they could see a cat run off in to the distance. They once again let out a sigh of relief as their nerves were getting to them. Then two feet hit the top of their guns, as it pulled them forward their guns fired in to the ground below. Once their guns hit the floor, Demon Hunter flipped over smacking the two soldiers in the jaw, they went flying through the air past Blaze and skidded along the ground where they laid unconscious.

“Hmm not bad Mr Demon Hunter, well then shall we?” Blaze asked Demon Hunter. “Let’s” Demon Hunter quickly replied as he clenched his hand around his sword’s handle. Blaze slowly removed his swords as they glittered in light of the fire coming from behind Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter could see, in the reflection from Blaze’s swords, that the fire behind him was being manipulated by Blaze. The fire was gathering in to two large balls of fire which went shooting past Demon Hunter on either side of him and wrapped themselves around Blaze’s swords. A small smile went across Blaze’s face as the fire warmed his face. “Well then Mr Demon Hunter let’s go” Demon Hunter jumped back and swung his sword out of its sheath. “This time I will not go on easy on you!” Demon Hunter shouted as he started to run towards Blaze.
