Demon Hunter Chronicles

Industrial Revolution

Demon Hunter, Ice and Cerebral slumped to floor, leaning on Blaze’s body. Ice and Demon Hunter both panted heavily as they started to feel very tired from the fight. “That was close” Ice said wiping the sweat from his forehead. “Yeah it was” Demon Hunter replied. Suddenly something clicked in Demon Hunter’s head, “one… two… three… four” He thought to himself as he counted the amount of people. “Cerebral!” Demon Hunter shouted as quickly swung his sword round stopping just before his neck. “well that’s not very nice” Cerebral said as he looked at Demon Hunter like nothing was wrong.

“What do you want?” Demon Hunter shouted at him, at this point Ice had jumped up and turned around facing him. “That’s no way to thank me” Cerebral said as he sat upright, as Demon Hunter’s sword followed his neck. Ice quickly grabbed Blaze and dragged him a few feet away from Blaze as quickly as he could. “Come on, if I wanted him dead then he would be by now” Cerebral said as he raised his eyebrows at Ice’s actions. “Answer me now!” Demon Hunter shouted starting to get a little impatient. “Ok ok, calm down. I will tell you what happened after our battle.” Cerebral said as he took a quick moment to clear his throat.

“After our battle, and my humiliating death. I fell in to the black crater. I kept falling for what seemed like hours. So lonely and so cold, suddenly my wound healed thanks to the nanomachines. Although I felt completely drained and on the verge of death I starting to fly upwards as I flew I realised what was wrong with my life. As a child of six I watched my mother being murdered by my father before he killed himself in front of me. I stumbled out of the house in the middle of a Russian winter. I searched for help but all I found was angry and busy people. I eventually ended up living on the streets fending for my self. I pleaded for people for help, but they were reluctant and ignored my pleas. I lived in the streets completely alone, it was so dark and cold, I craved for human attention. As I grew up I started to do bad things to get noticed, but they never caught me.

I got a name throughout Moscow as the cannibal killer; I ate my victims as I tried to get close to them. I felt that if I ate them, they would be a part of me forever. I know that this doesn’t excuse what I have done but I didn’t know any better. All I had seen since the age of six was death and violence. From that moment the old me, Samuel Geos died and I became something else. I part of me screamed for me to stop, I started to make clumsy mistakes to try and get caught. The police were close to finding me I could feel it. However at that same moment a strange man offered me the answer. Where I could do what I wanted, have unlimited power and most of all become part of a family. The old me finally shut up as I would finally be accepted so I leapt at the chance. However I found at that my new dad was no different then my old dad. I started to repel and follow my own path. With the new skills that I had been given I would never be lonely again.

For the first year I followed his orders and created a new family, luckily he asked me to dispose of several of the demons who he didn’t want anymore. I gained new powers and could found a way to be free. If I consumed enough demons and their powers I would finally be able to beat him and take control. Then this world would become my family, however after I suffered the defeat at your hands I felt something change. I no longer craved the companionship that I forced on the people I ate, but I wanted friendship like what I saw in you, Blaze and Ice. I then knew what I was doing was wrong. The new me died and the old me took control once again, however I made a vow to myself. I would protect the friendship of you three who showed me the right path with my life.” Cerebral said as a tear ran down his cheek.

“I suppose he saved Blaze” Ice said not sure what to make of it all. “And we could use his help if we want to defeat the master, especially now he has those four freaks protecting him.” Ice added as he thought about the situation. “I am sorry for what I have done, and I understand if you don’t want me to come but please let me get my revenge on the master for what he has done to me.” Cerebral added as Demon Hunter stared at him. “I don’t trust you, and I will never forgive you for after what you did to my family!” Demon Hunter shouted as tears began to run down his face. Suddenly a beam of light shined down on to the forecourt in front of Demon Hunter and Cerebral. Something quickly travelled down the light and stopped just before them both. Ice just stared in amazement as he tried to check if Blaze was alright.

There was a woman in the beam; she was still quite young only around mid twenties. She had long brown hair, and was wearing a long night gown which reached around her ankles. She had pale blue eyes and also a pale white complexion. Demon Hunter held out his hand but it merely passed through. “Helena…” he said as tear began to flood down his face. “Thank you Jack, you have set my soul free. I can now rest in peace thank to you. When your energy and light tore through Cerebral it broke the hold he had over us and our souls were set free. I came back to say goodbye Jack, I love you.” Helena said as she began to cry. “I love you too…” Demon Hunter managed to say as he wiped the tears from his face. Cerebral looked at them both puzzled by what was happening suddenly it clicked in Cerebral head. “I know you, I’m sorry. I never meant for this to happen.” Cerebral said pleading for forgiveness.

“I forgive you Cerebral, when we became a part of you. We saw all your memories and saw everything you saw. I know that there was some good in you. Buried deep down in side crying out for you to hear him, Demon Hunter, please let him join you. I doubt you will be able to beat him with out his help.” Helena said turning her attention back towards Demon Hunter. “Ok” Was all Demon Hunter could muster as he removed the sword from Cerebral’s neck and placed it back in it’s sheath. “I’m afraid my times up, just remember that no matter what it takes you have to stop him. Promise me” Helena said as she started to rise up the beam of light. “I promise” Demon Hunter said as Helena disappeared from site and so did the beam of light.

“If you try anything funny, I will kill you my self.” Demon Hunter said warning Cerebral. Demon Hunter turned around and started to walk towards Blaze and Ice. Ice stood there still puzzled. “Demon Hunter, was that really her or just your sub-conscious creating her to make your self feel better.” Ice asked wondering about what he had just seen. “You’re the religious one, what do you think?” Demon Hunter replied as he knelt down besides Blaze checking his pulse. “I suppose you’ve got a point. There is no way to truly know until we die” Ice replied looking down at Demon Hunter. “How is he?” He quickly asked as Demon Hunter stood back up. “He’s still alive, but his pulse is faint” he quickly replied before turning around and walking back to Cerebral.

“Thank you for saving him” Demon Hunter said bowing his head to Cerebral. “Should we take him too a hospital?” Ice asked nervously worrying about Blaze. “No that will be no good. There’s a war on at the moment plus Blaze is a demon. They will surely kill him under the orders of the master” Demon Hunter said walking back towards Blaze’s body. “I suppose you right” Ice said looking at his still body. “Don’t worry his nanomachines should heal him after a couple of hours. Until then we need to figure in what to do” Demon Hunter said removing the piece of paper with the address on it. “It is near here, it even seems to be in the middle of the Salisbury plains” Demon Hunter said staring at the address.

“But that’s where the European armed forces are currently stationed, how are we ever going to get there?” Ice said wondering about what to do. “Don’t worry, they have probably been moved already. They wouldn’t invite us just to be stopped at the gate by the guards. They want a rematch with us, only this time it will be different. I have already figured out a plan. Listen closely” Demon Hunter said as they all hurdled together. “I will first dispatch of Pestilence. I will then move in and head to the masters location and try to end this. You three will separate and hold off the remaining demons. Decide amongst yourselves who you wish to fight and do the best you can. If you manage to beat them head for my location as fast as you can to give me a helping hand okay.” Demon Hunter said as he held his hand in the middle of the huddle. Ice and Cerebral both placed their hands on top of his “Got it” they both said together.

“We need a ride” Demon Hunter said as he realised they left their stolen car in the city. “What about the lorries” Cerebral asked pointing at the tipped over Lorries. “No they won’t be any good. They are only two seaters plus they bring to much attention to us.” Demon Hunter said. “What about those containers, one of them might contain a vehicle I will go check it out.” Ice said leaving the huddle, and running over to the containers. “Well all we can do now then is wait” Cerebral said as he fell to the ground and laid back looking up at the clouds. “Great, I wonder how long this will take” Demon Hunter said sighing deeply.

Several hours later…

The sun was almost set for the day as Demon Hunter yawned; he was now laying down in the same fashion as Cerebral. Cerebral had fallen asleep after lying still for so long, Demon Hunter could hear Ice slashing open the container with his swords desperately trying to find a vehicle that they could use. Demon Hunter stared in to the sky and started to think about the upcoming battle that was about to take place. “Hmm, I wonder if this will all work out. What is Death secret, Cerebral severed his head, he should of died then but he just came back together. I have a worrying feeling that they were just toying with us.” Demon Hunter thought to himself.

Before he could worry anymore he heard something from Blaze. “Hey” Blaze managed to say stuttering as he started to violently cough. Demon Hunter instantly jumped up and helped him sit upright. “You ok, how you feeling” Demon Hunter asked worried as Blaze stopped coughing. “Hey I’m ok, just a little bit drained. But it was the weirdest feeling” Blaze said as somehow managed to rise to his feet. “What do you mean” Demon Hunter asked curiously. “When he grabbed hold of me, it felt like my soul was slowly been torn out of my body. I lost all of my strength as I used it to pull back against him. But his grip was so strong I couldn’t stand it just as I thought I was done for a saw Cerebral behind him. I slowly closed my eyes as I lost the strength to keep them open. Then a felt my soul return to me slowly and then I awoke here.” Blaze said as he rubbed his head.

”Well whatever you do, don’t get caught by his hands. Although he might not seem like it but he really is Death.” Blaze said as he massaged his bruised neck. “I know, there is more to those four then just their names. But it doesn’t matter ok, we will take them on just like any other demon.” Demon Hunter said smiling desperately trying to reassure Blaze. Demon Hunter then stood up and kicked Cerebral, Cerebral leapt up and instantly turned around ready to attack. Demon Hunter just ignored him turning around but he pointed at Blaze. Cerebral eyes locked on Blaze as he saw him stand up. “I am so glad you made it.” Cerebral said with a big smile on his face. “Hey thanks for saving me there. I thought I was a goner for a moment. But it looks like I pulled through thanks to you. Anyway what’s the deal with you, what’s going on” Blaze asked puzzled at Cerebral appearance.

“He is a new member, why don’t you welcome him” Demon Hunter walking over towards Ice to find out how he was getting on. As Demon Hunter walked he could hear Blaze faintly “Welcome to the Demon Hunter Elimination Squad, I am Blaze, the self appointed leader of the squad. Don’t let the name fool you, I wanted to call it Blazing Angels but I was out voted” Blaze as he introduce Cerebral to the group who happily stood there listening just glad to have friends finally. Ice had opened over half of the containers already and most of their contents had spilled out across one side of the forecourt. “How is it going” Demon Hunter asked as Ice appeared from within one of the ground floor containers. “I think I have found something” Ice said beckoning him over. Demon Hunter ran as fast as he could, as he turned the corner and looked in to the container. He couldn’t believe what he saw a large four by four land rover, “Perfect” Demon Hunter said as he saw it. Ice sat on the bonnet and laughed, “Guess what” Ice said. “What?” Demon Hunter simply replied. “It has a full tank of fuel” Ice said laughing. “Perfect!” Demon Hunter shouted as he jumped in to the driver’s seat. Ice jumped down and got in to the passengers side.

Demon Hunter pushed down on the accelerator, and came skidding out of the container and headed for the forecourt. Blaze and Cerebral instantly looked as they heard the noise. They saw the land rover bearing down on them before it quickly stopped in front of them. “That’s all for now, don’t worry it’s ok to just call me Blaze. No need for formalities.” Blaze said as they both rushed in to the car. “Everybody ready?” Demon Hunter asked as Blaze and Cerebral buckled in. “Yes” They all said one after the after psyching each other up. “Good let’s go” Demon Hunter said as he pushed his foot down on the accelerator and headed up the hill towards the main road.

After a while they all began to chat amongst themselves, as they drove towards the address. “Hey, how comes your clothes aren’t damaged anymore?” Blaze asked as he noticed there were no holes in Cerebral’s clothes. “I changed; I do have more then one pair of clothes you know. I am not disgusting!” Cerebral as he took offence at Blaze’s remarks. “Hey, not like two people I know” Blaze said laughing. “Hey!” Demon Hunter and Ice both said as they looked at the holes in his clothes.  “Clothes don’t grow on trees, and I don’t have any money. I died remember” Demon Hunter protested trying to explain his actions. “Ok ok, calm down you two it was a joke” Blaze said trying to make up for what he said. After a little while later, Blaze leaned over to Cerebral and pointed at Ice. “he doesn’t bathe either since he became a demon” Blaze said quietly.

Blaze and Cerebral quickly cracked up with laughter; Ice immediately flung round and faced them. “I heard that!” Ice bellowed at them shutting them up in a second. “Will you lot behaves. We will be there in a bit” Demon Hunter said trying to act sensibly amongst all the chaos. As they hit the edge of Salisbury plains they could see the building. Six huge chimneys reached up in to the sky all were pumping out smoke. Huge electric gates surrounded the building but the main entrance was unmanned. The building was a huge factory that had many different levels until what looked like a small room on the top by the last chimney. Beyond the entrance, the building separating creating a path to the main door, it joined at the door which looked like it was made out of thick reinforced steel. Several cameras were placed along the artificially created path and one by the door it self.

“This looks like it might be it, this is your last chance to turn back. You don’t have to go through with this if you don’t want to” Demon Hunter said as he looked around at the others. “I will revenge all the people I murdered in his name. I will put right what I put wrong. I will never turn my back now.” Blaze said as he spoke first. “I will fight for a better world, to undo the corruption that he has caused. I will finally let the souls of the millions he killed rest. I will not give up until the day I die” Ice said with strong conviction in his eyes. “I will never let my friends down, I made a promise to myself. And I will never break it. Even if it costs me my life, so be it. Till the end” Cerebral said valiantly. “Well then looks like with all decided, till the end” Demon Hunter said stealing Cerebral’s last part.

Demon Hunter hit the accelerator as they burst through the gates, alarms flashed and sirens wailed but nobody came to stop them. They continued on down the path as the camera’s followed them closely. As they neared the only entrance Demon Hunter slammed on the brakes bringing the car to a skidding halt. Demon Hunter watched the door carefully as he and everybody else stepped out of the car. They all walked in front of the car, as the doors slowly opened sideways. A gust of steam flew out as the door widened. As the steam cleared and out stepped the four horsemen, Famine and War quickly jumped to roofs on either side of the door. Death stood in the door way as Pestilence walked forwards towards them.

”Ha I never thought you would be stupid enough to come. You obviously don’t have a brain cell between all four of you. You thought you would have learnt by the beating you received last time. But maybe it is your nature as the hero, to keep coming back over and over again no matter how badly we beat you up. That in it self is the nature of a hero, such an annoying trait but there is a sure fire way to get rid of it. Kill the host so he can’t come back anymore. I will correct the mistakes that we made last time. You can be assured of that.” Pestilence said as he gloated over them. “Do not underestimate us. That’s your only warning. Now what is this place?” Demon Hunter shouted demanding answers from him.

“Ha ha so funny, this place is sort of an industrial revolution but for demons.” Pestilence said as he removed his sword. “What do you mean?” Demon Hunter asked unsure on what Pestilence meant. “Just like a said, not a brain cell amongst you. You truly are simpletons!” Pestilence taunted as quickly slashed through the air bringing the sword down to his side. “I warned you” Demon Hunter said in a angry voice. Before Pestilence could blink Demon Hunter stood before him with his fists glowing white his eyes filled with anger. He rapidly thrust his fist in to Pestilence’s chest as fast as possible. The dust on the ground rose in to the air with every punch that landed. Demon Hunter drew his fist back and put all the energy in that fist in to the attack.

The attack smashed through his stomach as dead bugs flew backwards towards Death stopping at his feet. A hole appeared where Demon Hunter thrust his fist, Pestilence quickly swiped down at him as he jumped backwards dodging the attack. “Radiant Blast” Demon Hunter yelled as he thrust his other arm forward firing a ball of energy. Demon Hunter skidded backwards as the energy left his hand; it landed right in the hole as the bugs formed around it. The ball instantly expanded absorbing the whole of Pestilence inside it. He screamed in pain as he burned away, the sphere stopped just in front of Death who stood perfectly still. As the sphere died away Pestilence was gone and only a crater was left, the walls on the side started to crumble as the attack left huge holes in them.

“I warned him” Demon Hunter said standing upright wiping off the dust that had landed on his suit. “Indeed you did, he was a fool. A weakling he deserved to die” Death answered as he still remained perfectly still. “Anyway it makes it fairer now, us four versus you three and your master.” Demon Hunter said with a smile on his face. “I suppose it does your right. It is better this way. Well then shall we begin” Death said calmly. “Let’s” Demon Hunter said as he withdrew his sword.
